Kevin Wicker

Kevin Wicker and I met back in the middle 90's in Nashville. We both had out offices in Midtown Plaza on West End Avenue near Music Row. After bumping into each other several times in the building's snack bar, we got to talking and realized we had several things in common. That was the beginning of a friendship that has lasted over fifteen years. Kevin is a great singer and musician, and possibly an even greater arranger/producer/engineer. He has been singing for my publishing company, Elevating Music, on and off since 1999 when we did an album together, titled "That Feather" by The Masked Cowboy Band. We brought in some of the best session players in Nashville and had a great time doing those songs. We have done a music video together and another CD as well as a few singles. More are in the works.

I learned in Nashville that you need several things to fall into place in order to become successful. You have to be good at what you do, of course, whether, singing, writing or playing. And you have to have a ton of good luck to get the timing right so that the industry is looking for what you do at the time you are at your peak performance. It's a lot like training for a road race. I don't know why but neither Kevin nor I ever got the "luck part of it" to fall into place for use for the proverbial "record" or "publishing" deals.

Now, thanks to the Internet, we can take our efforts in music directly to people like you. I hope you will take a few moments to sample some of our songs and even buy a few. I have a check on my office wall from BMI for one penny! I'd like to do better than that on this new web site.

Also, please feel free to provide feedback. We need to hear and understand what folks want out of their musical experience. About Elevating Music

Elevating Music, a BMI publishing name, was started in the 1980's by Stephen Pell and a couple of friends who got together to write songs. Stephen has kept the publishing name alive and has been writing songs (from time to time) ever since. Stephen and his wife, Betsy, own and operate HaleyMAX Productions which includes Elevating Music (BMI).

Elevating Music has had the opportunity to work with some of the best session players in Nashville over the years. Plus, we have formed a long-term friendship and business relationship with Kevin Wicker, who has produced and sung most of the songs in our first two CD's. These have been released under the name "The Masked Cowboy Band". While current supplies last you can get either CD for only $8.50 and that includes shipping or order both for $15 including shipping.

The main purpose of this site is to bring this collection of music to folks like you, who may have not heard it before. Given the political climate today, we wanted to kick off the site with the song "Anybody But The Incumbent". There is a sample here on the site. Please download the song.
